ELEMENTAL BATTLE ACADEMY

After the success of Magical Battle Arena (MBA) series, fly-system creates another 3D fighting game based on the same game engine called Elemental Battle Academy. Unlike MBA the game comes in 2 different systems: intense ground fighting (MBA focus on aerial battle) and characters customization. The battle will involve elemental ability such: E. Attack (similar to finishing move), E. Burst (release full power capacity), E. Charge (charging, lock on and attack) etc. The storyline is not as good as MBA, but the visual effects and BGM are quite satisfying. All girls are original concept and voiced by famous actress such Rie Tanaka (Gundam Seed) and Toyosaki Aki (K-On!). Elemental Battle Academy was released on COMIC1☆04 event 2010.

Christina is the third princess of Armenian who was born during the great war between humans and demons. Though a a woman, she had countless battle victories and was feared by demons. Her mother, the queen then sent her on a secret mission to assasinate the Demon Lord Gardis in return for demonic destruction of the Kingdom of Crofts. Christina then departs with Lezette, the most loyal knight to take the demon king's head and restore the peace to the land. TOUHOU KURENAI MA DAIMEIKYUU - ADVENTURES OF REIMU 2

"Kurenai Ma Daimeikyuu" is the 2nd installment from Banshee SOFTWARE's dungeon puzzle game. Basically, the gameplay is all the same with the previous version. Player should avoid enemies, take entire spell cards, move objects and finally exit through the door. New in this sequel is Reimu Mode (normal), Marisa Mode (easy), Extra Mode and Gallery. While hints are available in story mode, in Extra Mode the difficulties are higher and without hints. Touhou Kurenai Ma Daimeikyuu - Adventures Of Reimu 2 was released on Comiket 78 2010.

MAGICAL BATTLE ARENA - COMPLETE FORM

"Complete Form" is the final completion from the Magical Battle Arena (particularly Lyrical Pack expansion). While the previous expansion requires the original game, this version is totally standalone. 4 girls are join roster: Fate T. Harlaown StS (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS), Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki and Fuu Hououji (Magic Knight Rayearth). Except in Story Mode, these new girls are usable in any modes. The story is about the girls who were abducted from their realms to restore the cosmic balance of magic among the multiverse. Magical Battle Arena - Complete Form was released on Comiket 77 2009.

IRUKARA BOTSUKUSU - PART 1

"Irukara Botsukusu" basically is a collection of three different Touhou mini games: Driluna (where you have to drill soil as deep as possible), Kogasanpo (where you have to jump between platform) and Suika (where you make Suika eat as much as possible). The game has no storyline and purely just for fun. All you need to do is collect the highest possible scores. "Irukara Botsukusu" actually is a teaser for the next illuCalab's game called "TAKKOMAN - Kouzatsu World." Since this is a flash game, make sure you have Flash Player application already installed. "Irukara Botsukusu - PART 1" was released on Comiket 79 2010.

The next morning when he wakes up, there's a mysterious voice behind him, "If you don't follow us, then you're die." "Kon Kon" which means "Our Soul" is a mystery adventure game which was released on 79th Comiket 2010. Another version of the game also available for Android apps. To play the game, set your OS into Japanese before playing is strongly recommended.

QUARTET X

"Ba Quartet X" or sometimes called as "Quartet X" basically is a Rockman X clone game. As indicated by the title, "Ba Quartet" which means "Foolish Quartet X" comes in 4 girls Touhou to choose from. Despite its good BGM, the game unfortunately not supported by fine visual effects. This because the game has very low resolution which are not suitable for today's high end graphic cards. According to the developer another update patch for bugs fixing will be released soon. Quartet X is the 1st Touhou game project from ぺんぺんむしの紅茶 which was released on Comiket 81 December 2011.

TOUHOU FUUMA ROKU - THE STORY OF EASTERN WIND

"Touhou Fuuma Roku" which means "Story of Eastern Wind" (SoEW) is an update remake from 2nd Touhou classic SHMUPS "Story of Eastern Wonderland." The game is not official but the original BGM are still used. SoEW featuring 5 levels in regular mode and 4 playable characters: Sanae Kochiya, Hakurei Reimu, Suika Ibuki and Yuyuko Saigyouji. When regular mode has been completed without continue, player can unlock 3 extra modes: yukkuri extra stages, additional extra stages and modeled off of SoEW's extra stage. SoEW is the first and only Touhou project by Helios Create which was released on Comiket 75 2008.

CRIMZON CLOVER

Crimzon Clover is vertically scrolling doujin SHMUPS which almost similar to Capcom's Giga Wing series. Along with Hayabusa, Crimzon Clover was regarded as the best SHMUPS during 79th Comiket. To unlock all features (ships, extra stages, credits, etc) the game requires points which obtained from playing results. Player will controls one of 3 types of ship - Type I, II or Z in 3 difficulties: Simple, Original and Unlimited. The difference between all ships lies in movement speed, option arrangement and break gauge. This game version is 1.00 and the additional patch to version 1.01 is now available. The update patch fixing some bugs issues, adds replay support and new scoring system.

TOUHOU KURENAI MA MEIKYUU - ADVENTURES OF REIMU

"Touhou Kurenai Ma Meikyuu" which means "Eastern Labyrinth of Scarlet Devil" is a puzzle game based on NES classic game "Adventures of Lolo." Reimu's primary gameplay mechanic is the ability to move objects and find the way to exit door. If players get stuck in a stage, they can push a button to restart level. The game also provides custom editor which allows player to design their own level. These level can be saved and imported in the game. "Touhou Kurenai Ma Meikyuu" is the first Touhou project from Banshee SOFTWARE which was released on Comiket 77 2009.

MIKU'S MULTIPLY SPIRAL

"Miku Sumaruchipurai Supairaru" or Miku's Multiply Spiral is another Vocaloid vertical SHMUPS from Arsteneit (Galshell series). Player can select either Miku or duo Kagamine Rin and Len. Both characters have freeze ability which can deplete the music note gauge. With Miku player can negate enemies bullets with her twintails, while duo Rin and Len form a barrier spell for a few seconds. This gauge can be easily replenished by destroys enemies or picking up music notes. Since the game comes with Miku's song, Arsteneit have also published an official game soundtrack (not included here). Miku's Multiply Spiral was published on Comiket 76 2009.

BULLET LIFE

Bullet Life is a 3D shooting game from Japanese indie developer From Soy Sauce which was released on 2010. The game looks almost similar to Touhou Koumakyou 3D, but here players must shooting and dodging scattered bullets. At the same time, there are various coloured squares as bonus points or recovering health. According to the developer Bullet Life was inspired by Touhou SHMUPS series, but without specific story. Players will control Zoey, a girl with heavy artillery with standard Japanese SHMUPS control. The game featuring standard mode, free mode, vs player, vs IP and 4 levels.

TOUHOU AKIJINROKU - EVERYDAY OF AUTUMN - C79 PREVIEW VER.

"Touhou Akijinroku" which means "Eastern Autumn God Chronicles" is upcoming fangame SHMUPS based on Touhou Fuujinroku (Mountain of Faith). In this early production, players are only given a limited choice. Players will control Aki Minoriko and Aki Shizuha in normal difficulty with Touhou Fuujinroku scoring system. The last trial version was released on Comiket 79 2010. Since the developer's site is no longer active, no further information related to it's official release. It is preditected that the next updates will be released on Comiket 82 or so.

EXCEED 2ND - VAMPIRE REX

"REX" basically is a remake from the original eXceed 2nd - VAMPIRE which previously was released by FLAT on Comiket 70 2006. After the circle changed name to Tennen Sozai, their first project was create a standard engine for the next eXceed series. While the story and gameplay still unchanged, this remake version will comes in new title screen as well as shots style. The most prominent upgrades can be seen from all new graphic engines and sound effects as used in eXceed 3rd. As one of the most succesful Japanese SHMUPS, "REX" and "Black Package" will be released and translated in 2012 for non Japanese market by Nyu Media. This is the original Japanese version which was released on Comiket 73 2007.

DANGEROUS SUWAKO-CHAN

Suwako eating too much! Now she has to lose weight by doing Sanae's training program. Dangerous Suwako-chan is a clone of classic Super Mario Bross where player collecting coins and shooting enemies. At the end of each level player will measure their time record as well as calories. The faster time and more calories you burn, higher score can be obtained. Three game modes are available: Normal Mode (recommended for beginner), Masochism Mode (similar to extra mode where higher difficulties comes with bullet hell) and Boss Rush (a series of boss fight, finish normal mode to unlocked). Dangerous Suwako-chan was released on Comiket 81 December 2011.

TOKKYU TENSHI

Tokkyu Tenshi which means "Angel Express" basically is a mix of action, platform and racing game. Set in the same realm as Chantelise and Recettear, Tokkyu Tenshi has two standard race types. The first is single player where you'll have to race against time. Another mode is multiplayer to play both on the same PC or netplay for distance player. In multiplayer mode player with the most points is the winner. These points is determined by various things. For example: you'll get higher points when jumping or killing foes with single action, never getting hit, or reaching the finish line earlier. You'll lose points when falling down or being too long behind the screen. The first trial version was released on Comiket 74 2008. This is the final release which was released on Comiket 75 2008.

MAO∙TAN

MAO∙TAN is a simple, cute and fun doujin action game where you'll play as an apprentice maid named Sharon. One day, a group of bad guys break through the castle and kidnapped her master. As the only hope, Sharon goes to stop the bandits and simultaneously rescue her master. Fortunately, Sharon won't facing the dangers alone, because there is a sentient magic broom that gives her advice (though sometimes get her into trouble). Use this broom to whack, spin around for temporary invicible, and of course sweep up foes. When defeated, some enemies often give power up or health. TAILS GEAR

Tails Gear is a decent vertical SHMUPS where player will control a main ship plus another three as assistant. The weapon style is adapted from Raiden 2 with one button (Z by default) for two types of shots: press rapid for wide shot and hold for laser. Player can place their partner ship in desired position (x button by default), while at the same time main aircraft can keep moving or dodging. In Tails Gear weapon bonus will be replaced with "shoots system" which allows player increasing their weapon level. When your fighter hit by enemy bullets but not destroyed, this will result in lowered weapon level. The game comes with 6 levels and 3 difficulties. The latest patch is Ver.1.10b and all you need to do is overwrite the original files. Tails Gear was released on Comiket 73 2007.

EXCEED 2ND - VAMPIRE

After the great war in the first game, vampires are began to coexist with humans. But it did not last long, because a xenophobic faction of the Catholic Church is against the existence of vampires. Once again they ordered "Gun Bullet Children" armies to exterminate the entire vampires as well as their hybrid deviants. The game will recounts Ria File, a half-vampire, half-human as she fights to survive on the side of vampires. This 2nd installment includes "polarity system" which previously was popularized by Treasure's Ikaruga. Player can absorb enemy shots with the same colour which in turn and charge power ups. At the same time, becoming immune to their own polarity and give double damage to enemies with the opposite polarity. The game has 8 levels and is the original Japanese version which was released on Comiket 70 2006.
